Teen Book Clubs

The Gettysburg Library has them.

You know you want to join.

Clubs are open to teens in 9-12 grade.

One club meets the 1st Monday of every month @ 7:00.

The other meets the 1st Thursday of every month @ 7:00.

Calling all Teen writers!

Do you like writing?

Do you thing writing is the pits?

Either way, we want you!

We want to write a short story - a short story that all teens in Adams County will have a say in. Let's call it...Twitterbook.


Why do we want to do this? For fun, of course!


How are we doing to do this? Online - participation will be through Twitter, Facebook, Email, and this blog.


When are we doing this? Soon. Writing will take place between March 1 and March 14.



So, are you interested yet?

An informational meeting will be held on Monday, February 28th @ 5:00 @ the Gettysburg Library.

We will be discussing just how this is going to work, and coming up with the first line or so of the story.


We hope to see you there, but if you can't make the meeting, you can always catch us at the library!

Not one for Valentine's Day?

Then come to the library!





On Monday, February 14th (Valentine's Day) from 6:00-8:00 at the Gettysburg Library, we will be having an Anti-Valentine's Day Party for teens 13-18.



Teens are welcome to come and munch on some broken heart cookies, create anti-valentines, design t-shirts and listen to some "Un-love" songs.

Homework Help!

The library subscribes to many online resources that can help you finish your last-minute projects or papers! One resource is our ebook collection. Many reference books are now online, and you can search through them with a click of the mouse!


Just type your search term in the box and press enter. You will be taken to a webpage that asks for you library card number, type that in and then you'll be taken to your results list.

Yes, there are a few more steps involved than there are with Google, but by using our Virtual Reference Collection, you are guaranteed that the information you're finding is the correct information.

Teen Summer Reading

It's almost here! Amazing, huh?

The program is going to be run generally the same way that it ran last year. You sign up and record your books online. The link will be on the main library's website - www.adamslibrary.org

All we're asking you to do this year is read 8 books and write a little review of each. By completing the program and reading 8 books, your name will be entered to win a basket full of goodies. Full description of the basket full of goodies is to come.

Along with reading 8 books, you have the chance to participate in various programs that will be held throughout the county. The programs that will be held at the Gettysburg Library are listed to the right. All of the programs listed to the right require that participants be between the ages of 13 & 19. Three of the programs require registration and you can register for two of them (Rubber Duckies and Book Luau) by clicking on the links to the right.

More information on what movies we will be showing can be found in the Teen Area of the Gettysburg Library.
