Just In!

Are you looking for a book to read while wasting away the summer hours? Never fear! The library has just received a whole slew of new teen books!

Did you enjoy the anime Howl's Moving Castle? If you did, you may want to check out The Art of Howl's Moving Castle - this book has production synopsis, storyboards, and the entire screenplay. It's a perfect companion to the movie.

Speaking of Anime, if you like the movies based on the Inuyasha manga, then you may enjoy Inuyasha Manga Profiles. This is an amazing book that has information on the Shikon Jewel, battle histories, and a guide to all characters (including the lesser ones)!

Staying in the manga vein for awhile longer, the library has also just finished purchasing all of the remaining volumes in the Land of the Blindfolded series. Enjoy!

Are you looking ahead to your future? If so, then you may want to take a look at In Their Shoes: Extraordinary Women Describe Their Amazing Careers. This is a fun book that interviews a person in each career that it discusses. The range of careers that the book focuses on is amazing - ranging from forensic scientist to social worker, sheriff to activist.

Family dynamics and high school play a large part in some of the other books that are recent additions to the collection. From The Social Climber's Guide to High School to Trigger or Dramarama almost all the facets of life as a teenager are covered in the most recent additions to the teen collection.

If you're more into the SciFi/Fantasy world, we have books for you. Try Faeries of Dreamdark: Blackbringer or Genesis Alpha.

Even if you don't see a title here that sounds interesting to you, there are plenty of new books back in the teen area of the library. Don't hesitate to come in and browse!

Book Clubs and more clubs....

It's between book clubs time. The Manga Club just met and it seems that everyone really enjoyed Inu Yasha Volume 1. Next month the Manga Club will be reading Hoshin Engi Volume 1. I hope that a lot of people come out and play with us.

Soon, probably in August, there will be a meeting of the library's Otaku Club. This is a club that will focus on manga and anime. If we have 20 or more members we can join a group called Funimation and preview anime before it appears on tv or film. Also, I'm hoping that this Otaku Club will really help in purchasing manga. It's hard for one person to keep up to date with the various series that the library already purchases and others that are coming out all the time. This club would be filled with people who already enjoy and look forward to each new volume, so they would be on top of new volumes coming out.

Keep your eyes posted in the blog and in the teen area for upcoming announcements about new programs! Things are always in the works!

A few things...

My quote of the day...

The question isn't 'what are we going to do,' the question is 'what aren't we going to do?'
